YELLOW BRICK ROAD - detail
2024
Mixed media: hand-painted paper quills, beads, sequins, charms, and thread hand-sewn onto ribbons, with mottled acetate resin and enamel rings to hang from a Lucite bracket
detail

The ribbons, interchangeable and free-floating, move and whisper with a breeze. Oz presents polarizing images of innocence, good/evil, oligarchy, disability, fantasy and nightmares and resonates now, just as it did in the 1900s. The ribbons, coded with baby alphabet beads, are interactive.
